BLACK ROCK RESIDENCY
In the summer of 2023, I was honored to be invited by the Friends of Black Rock High Rock and the Bureau of Land Management to be an artist-in-residence at the Black Rock Desert - High Rock Canyon - Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area. During this residency, I made a number of trips there and explored the playas, deserts, canyons, mountains, wetlands, and all of the diverse ecosystems within this famed natural treasure. There, I pushed the boundaries of my practice by experimenting with ephemeral installations that combined my interests in digital media, experiential art, and the impact of the sublime. From this experience, I created a body of work that documented and expanded upon these installations. Subsequently, this body of work was exhibited, alongside fellow resident Rachel Stiff, at public exhibitions in Reno, Winnemucca, and Elko, Nevada.
